National Carers Week
National Carers Week, dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating carers in Australia, will be held from Sunday 10 to Saturday 16 October 2021
National Carers Week is about recognising and celebrating the outstanding contribution unpaid carers make to our nation.
There are over 2.65 million unpaid carers in Australia providing care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, alcohol or drug dependency, long term health condition or who is frail due to age.
Anyone at any time can become a carer. National Carers Week is an opportunity to educate and raise awareness among all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles.
The NSW Department of Communities and Justice has provided funding for grants to celebrate carers. A calendar of National Carers Week events can be downloaded here. Please note that events are current at the time of posting. All events will adhere to the COVID-19 requirements in place at the time.
