On Tuesday 27 June 2023, Carers NSW CEO, Elena Katrakis, and Executive Manager, Policy, Development and Research, Sarah Judd-Lam joined the Ageing & Disability Commission to launch a new paper prepared by Carers NSW on behalf of the Ageing and Disability Commission Advisory Board discussing the impacts of the COVID-19 response on older people, people with disability and carers in NSW.
The paper, Preparing for the future: Learning from the impact of the COVID-19 response on older people, people with disability and carers in NSW, reviews key published evidence regarding the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on older people, people with disability and carers in NSW, in the context of their increased risks of adverse outcomes. The paper provides an overview of unique and common experiences of each group, highlighting ongoing issues and identifying opportunities to improve planning and responses for future pandemics.
