Care2Prepare Household Readiness Toolkit

Having a disaster plan is essential. A tailored disaster plan not only provides peace of mind but also ensures that you can act quickly and effectively when it matters most.

The Household Readiness Toolkit takes a person-centred supported approach, to develop a plan that is based on the individual’s capability and capacity to plan, prepare and act during a disaster.

The Household Readiness Plan is designed to be a quick reference tool that can be easily located and followed during a disaster. It includes 1-page plans to Leave Early, Stay in Place or Evacuate.

The Household Readiness Planning Guide provides a framework for the planning conversation supporting the plan holder(s) to identify personal strengths and capabilities that can be leveraged to develop their plan and respond quickly during a disaster.

How to identify if you are in a flood or bush fire prone area

You can check if you live in a flood or bush fire prone area on your local council website. Look for bush fire prone land and flood mapping tools.

To check if you are in a bush fire area, you can also use the NSW Rural Fire Service bush fire prone land mapping tool.
