This week, Carers NSW released our 2025-26 NSW Pre-Budget Submission, Supporting carers through challenge and change. Highlighting the need for additional investment to support carers through ongoing cost of living challenges and significant changes in the care and support sector.
Ahead of the next NSW Budget, this Pre-Budget Submission reflects on key findings from Carers NSW research and consultation with carers and service providers to identify areas requiring ongoing and additional investment from the NSW Government. It also recognises the Government’s considerable existing and new investment in carer recognition and support throughout the first half of the NSW Carers Strategy: Caring in NSW 2020-2030.
The Pre-Budget Submission highlights four key areas for ongoing and additional NSW Government investment that align with the NSW Carers Strategy and makes a range of practical recommendations progressing actions in relation to the following priorities in the 2025-26 NSW State Budget Period:
- Carers will be recognised, respected and empowered
- Carers will have better access to information, services and supports
- Carers will have improved financial wellbeing and economic opportunities
- Carers will have better health and wellbeing
In the next NSW State Budget, Carers NSW urges the NSW Government to provide additional investment into the 958,500 carers across NSW who have demonstrated considerable resilience through ongoing challenges and change.
