Young Carer Awareness Session

Carers NSW is facilitating an online Young Carer Awareness Session that can help you identify young carers in your community and connect them with supports to ensure young carers achieve their highest potential.

Young carers are children and young people aged 25 years or under, who help to support a family member or friend living with disability, mental illness, drug or alcohol dependency, chronic condition, terminal illness, or who is ageing or frail.

In this 45-minute session, we will share information about:

  • Who young carers are
  • How they support the people they care for
  • Some of the impacts that they can experience while juggling school, work, and their caring role
  • Some of the current research around young carers
  • Information about supports for young carers

A young carer has been invited to join us to share their caring and lived experience.

Don’t miss this opportunity to strengthen your practice and better support young carers.

When: 11:30 PM – 12:15 PM, Monday 19 October 2026

Where: Microsoft Teams
