Do you or your employees engage with carers? Are you aware of supports that may meet carers' needs?
Supporting carers is essential to effective community care. Building carers’ capacity helps people remain active and independent in their communities, strengthens relationships, supports families, and recognises the important contribution carers make to society.
This session is designed to give health and service providers an understanding of carer needs when supporting a family member or friend with disability, mental illness, drug or alcohol dependency, chronic condition, terminal illness or is frail.
By the end of this session, you will understand
- Who carers are, the impact of caring, and the importance of connecting carers with support
- The NSW Carers (Recognition) Act 2010 and how it guides engagement with carers.
- Carer Gateway services and resources for carers.
You will require access to a computer with speakers (a microphone and video camera are a bonus). Training is delivered using the ZOOM platform. Carers NSW will send you instructions about how you can join the session on the day before each session.
The duration of this session is 1 hour.
