Caring Through Crisis: Disaster Planning

Natural disasters can occur at any time, often without warning. During a natural disaster some people need to leave their homes for 3 to 7 days, if not longer. This session helps you prepare for natural disasters like bush fire, heatwaves, severe storm events, flooding and tsunamis.

Participant feedback: The session is 'strength focused and uplifting if one is feeling overwhelmed.’

The session will focus on:

  • Understanding your risks
  • Knowing what to do before, during and after a disaster
  • Knowing who can assist you, and
  • Having the tools and knowledge to plan ahead.

At the end of the session participants will receive a copy of the Caring through Crisis: Disaster Planning handbook, including tools to create an emergency care plan and evacuation plan.

You will require access to a computer with speakers (a microphone and video camera are a bonus). Training is delivered using the Zoom platform. Carers NSW will send you instructions about how you can join the session on confirmation of your registration.

The duration of this workshop is 2 hours.
