Carer allowance rates rise from 1 January 2018

From 1st January 2018, the government will increase payments to carers across Australia.

Given the importance of ensuring welfare payments keep pace with rises in the cost of living, everyone currently receiving the carer allowance will have their rates adjusted in line with the consumer price index. Those providing daily care at home to someone with a disability will receive an increase of $2.40 a fortnight in line with inflation.
