Mental Health Foundations for Carers

Mental Health Foundations for Carers is an interactive, online information and support program for carers of someone with a mental illness. The program provides information on the types of services and support that are available for carers, various treatment options and provides tips on how to navigate the mental health system.

Carers of someone with a mental illness often face unique challenges in their caring role, including navigating the mental health system and dealing with issues of grief and loss. Mental Health Foundations for Carers contains an interactive program, provides information and insight into the caring role, and includes video interviews with other carers.

If you are a carer of someone with a mental illness, this resource sets out some of the issues you may face and the types of support you may need. The resource also provides practical tips on how to navigate the mental health system, how to look after yourself and effective communication techniques.

This resource will also help service providers understand carers’ experiences and needs.
